George III On page 57, George is portrayed on a farm talking to a pig. George was nicknamed "Farmer George" because of his passion for agriculture and preference for a thrifty lifestyle. He conformed to a strict routine; waking up at 6am, going to mass every day and always riding for at least 3 hours. He was so frugal that he refused to put a rug on the bedroom floor because he found it too extravagant.
Temperance Enjoying a Frugal Meal Caricaturists like James Gillray often poked fun of George's spartan lifestyle. This was greatly contrasted against his son's proclivity for extravagance. Read more about George III>>
